Features of flanges
Flanges can withstand great pressure and it is easy to use. In industrial pipeline, flanges connection has got wide application. So, if you are in a boiler room or production site, you will see flanged pipes and equipment scattered everywhere. While in families, however, because of small diameter pipe and low pressure, you can not see flange connection.
Flanges, often used to connect joints, has a wide application. Usually, its manufacturing processing is cast molding or forging punching. Nonetheless, casting flange doesn’t have uniform and compact inner organization while forged flange will cost a large amount of material and energy consumption. In this case, rolling manufacturing emerged as required, and it can solve all the problems mentioned above. Because the fiber of rolling distributes evenly and metal grain places closely, as well as the low energy consumption, good-quality surface, advanced molding quality, the development of rolling manufacturing is fast.
Differences Between Flat Weld Flanges and Butt Weld Flanges
Because of high production efficiency, easy operation and reasonable price, flat weld flanges and butt weld flanges are most common weld flanges. In most cases, people will choose these two kinds of flanges. But how to distinguish them and what is the difference?
First, different material. Flat weld flange use ordinary steel plate as the material while butt weld flange use forged steel for manufacturing.
Second, different pressure. Nominal pressure for flat weld flange is between 0.6Mpa to 4MPa. Compared with flat weld flange, nominal pressure for butt weld flange is smaller.
Third, different welding connection, and this is the biggest difference. The flat weld flange has a socket RF with the diameter bigger than the pipe, so that the pipe can be inserted and welded inside. The butt weld flange’s wall thickness and diameter are required to be the same with the pipe, so that both the inside and outside of the weld seam can be welded up.
Fourth, different steel degree. Flat weld flange has bigger steel degree than butt weld flange. But when it comes to strength, butt weld flange is higher with less leakage problem.
Measurement Methods of Carbon Steel Flanges
With the rapid development of long-distance pipeline construction at home and abroad, pipeline pressure test has become indispensable and important. Before and after the pressure test, cleaning must be done on each pipelines, usually the number is 4 to 5 times. Especially after the pressure test, it will become difficult to clean out the water in the pipeline, so the cleaning number should be increased. Using repeated welding head method may have these following problems: first, it will increase the labor intensity; second, large material consumption and high cost.
